All we can say is … 👏👏👏!

A hearty bravo to everyone who joined us on New Year’s Day for our annual First Day Hikes, a part of the nationwide hikes sponsored by First Day Hikes Pin 2020America’s State Parks.

Participants showed up in droves to the nearly 50 events at state parks across Washington. Our staff counted nearly 1,400 people who came out to hike, bike, snowshoe, ski, trot and paddle their way into 2020! In total, Washington’s First Day Hikers traversed more than 2,700 miles. Good show!

A special shout out to the four-legged hikers as well, including the horses and more than 30 dogs who joined the fun.

We are delighted this event grows more and more popular and prolific with each passing year, and we owe the success to everyone who turns up and our amazing park staff who show up to lead and interpret. We look forward to First Day Hikes' success snowballing for years to come.

Here’s a look back at a few of our First Day Hikes. Enjoy the snaps and if you have some of your own, please do share them on our story share page!
