Central Washington has long been treasured as a hub for winter recreation and tourism. This year, visitors to the Leavenworth area have a new opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. The Sno-Park Permit grants access every winter to miles of cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, sledding, skijoring, and… an ice rink!

Through collaboration with Kahler Glen Community Association, Kahler Mountain Club, and local volunteers we have a place where families can enjoy the wintertime ice. Located about 25 minutes from Leavenworth, and just one mile from Lake Wenatchee State Park, the Ice Rink is a great stop for visitors to the area during the festive winter season.

The Ice Rink is located at the trailhead for Nason Ridge Sno-Park, so visitors have additional recreation options like snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.

We’ve put together some helpful tips, to help get you out on the ice!

Rentals and equipment

Ice skating is a winter sport that can require specialized equipment, but don’t worry – we’ve got you covered! The Nason Ridge Ice Rink offers free ice skate rentals, balance assisting devices, and hockey sticks all provided by donations! The Kahler Mountain Pro Shop nearby provides paid rentals just down the road, and offer rentals for cross-country skis, snowshoes, and premium ice skates.

Since the ice rink is outdoors, make sure to dress for the cold! Warm jackets, hats and gloves are always a great idea when recreating outdoors in the winter.

Check Conditions

As with most forms of winter recreation, conditions vary day-to-day, and visitors should always check online before they head out! Condition reports are posted online on the ski report (updated when grooming occurs) and on Lake Wenatchee Info. As with all winter travel, make sure you’re prepared to drive in snowy conditions and inclement weather.

Sno-Park Permit

Visitors to the Ice Rink will need a Sno-Park permit, with the special groomed sticker park. The Sno-Park permits helps support access to Nason Ridge Sno-park and Ice Rink, along with over 130+ recreational areas through the winter season. These areas see a high volume of traffic during the season and the purchase of permits help fund the plowing of parking lots, maintenance of facilities, and groomed trails and more.

Sno-park permits are available online or through a licensed vendor – including on-site at the Ice Rink!
